End of October

For the record "Baby Ruth" candy bars have nothing to do with "Babe Ruth", the former Boston Red Sox.

When the movie "Fever Pitch" or "The Perfect Catch" was being shot, the Sox's haven't won a World Series since 1918. The curse of the Bambino lasted for 86 years. They finally won it in 04 .

Red Sox beat Rockies to win their second World Series in four years.
Now are the Boston Red Sox going for a dynasty ?

I thought this year's series will at least go back to Fenway Park .
It was a complete sweep. A shame for the Colorado.
I wanted my October madness be an exiting one, and not a sweep.

The last few chapters of John Grisham's " A Painted House" best describe how most baseball fans feel as October ends.

October end's , Baseball ends.

Basketball begins.

The Best Sport Movies

I love sports movies despite anticipating how they end.

The Karate Kid - awesome ! Wax in wax out, The moment of truth.
The Mighty Ducks - superb !

The Hoosiers (1986 Best Shot) My all time Favorite sport movie. I remember watching the movie in a packed house.Everybody was standing and shouting during the last few seconds of the game este the movie. I felt like watching an actual basketball game.

Last few years there were a couple notable sports movies like the "Goal", which despite having a typical sport movie theme, it was nice.

The " Perfect Catch" ( Fever Pitch) which chronicles the Boston Red Socks failure to win the World Series since 1918 ( "Curse of the Bambino") and finally winning it in 2004.
Okey its a romantic comedy ( Drew Barrymore) hehehe...

Last Sunday race at Interlagos was a movie writers dream.

Ferrari last won the both championships in 2004 with Shumi.
The last three years have been a struggle.

With two races left, I wanted Alonso to take the championship because I don't want Hamilton to win it on his rookie year. That will be an insult to Rubens, Fisi, and David.

Kimi was down 7 points, needs a victory in Sao Paulo and
leave the rest to everybody to decide it.

My hope ran hight during the 1st lap, who would have thought Hamilton would be 8th, and then was it 18th?

For the whole race I was hopping and gasping for air.

Kimi finishes the race at P1.
I was so happy Hamliton was just behind Kimi & Massa as they crossed the flag,
he was a full lap down. From his cockpit, his championship snatched with in his full view.

Then the long wait. Alsonso finished almost a minute down.

For a few minutes, even if Kimi won the race, there were still chances that he wont win it.
What if Fernando slowed down and gave Lewis a position?
Its called teamwork, but McClaren don't know the word team work.

Then finally from the Pit radio ;

" It's all over Mate! It's all over! from my calculations we won the championship by a point!"
(quote might need correction)

Finally Kimi wins it !

Viva Ferrari !!!!

F1 Season Thriller

The Formula One season comes to an end this weekend at Interlagos , Sao Paulo,Brazil.
The 2007 Drivers championship will be decided at the last race.

I will be watching the qualifying and race both at midnight, which means I would be at bed late Sunday and I would be dragging my self to office on Monday. Even if the Interlagos was a non deciding race I would still watch it in the middle of the night. Next year most Asian races will be held at night so that European viewers would not watch the races at dawn. Go figure !

I hope it would be a red Ferrari on the last lap , and its Kimi Raikkonen's car.
If he wins the last race , he would have won 6 races and to me that makes him the world champion.

Viva Ferrari !

Also this weekend the Moto GP circus will be next door in Sepang ,
I'm still thinking if I'm going to watch .

Last week I was in Manila for a short break, I went for a short jog at CCP, Manila Bay, fulfilled my craving for Jollibee Spaghetti and a large cold galss of Royal True Orange.
I bought a MP Nike shirt, a Phoenix Suns and LA Lakers Jersey.

How was you weekend?

The mother of all weekends.

I love weekends !

Friday 6pm.
I started my weekend by playing pickup basketball against boys half my age.
I won three games, scored a handful.
I drank 1.5 liters of H2O and 0.5 liters of Gatorade in just one hour of playing, shit I'm old.

Saturday 6am.
I went trekking at Gasing Hill, the usual but I think I peaked last week I was gasping for air!
Its was 2 hours of uphill hell. I had breakfast at a Chinese resto, went home , took a shower , browsed the sports page and passed out.

Saturday 2pm.
Woke up for this, the weather was fine in Shanghai, and I was confident Ferrari was thinking of strategy instead of P1.
Okey P1 Hamilton, who cares !

Went to the mall did my errands, bought an England & MU shirt, went for a Filipino resto for dinner.

Saturday 9 pm.
Finally MU had broken the 1-0 margins, they had a rampage of four goals and are top of the table.

Sunday 7 am.
The moment of truth, the wait is over ! The Will to Win.
My friends and I wanted all the prelim fights to finish by KOs, we didn't care who won ,
get on with the main event!
As I have said The Pac had some problems, he even had a hard time making the weight.
It was an ok fight, not boring but average, the Pac even managed to wave to the crowd after a few rounds. A lot have been predicted and said, but in the end the Pacman won!

Sunday 12pm.
After not getting my expectations with Pacman & Barrera, I went for a long lunch out with my friends. Shanghai was next, but I wont waste my time watching Hamilton winning the championship. The lunch was good, but from the Bar the volume was too load for me, Hamilton P1 in so or so laps. I went home and ok lets see what happens.

Lap 20 something, Kimi is behind Lewis, Lewis's lap times are falling, Kimi is catching up, Kimi on the slipstream, Kimi on the outside, Kimi late on the brakes,
Kimi leads the Chinese Grand Prix !

Hamilton goes for the Pits, Lewis loses it at Pit lane entrance, Lewis is in the gravel, Lewis is deep in the gravel, the marshals pushes the car, its still stuck, Ron Dennis is in shambles, Hamilton is out of the car ! It's game over for Hamilton's Chinese Grand Prix !

A knelt , two fist on the air, my eyes on the McClaren on the gravel !
I believe in God !

So it will be decided in Sao Paulo in two weeks !

Sunday 6pm.
After taking a power nap, I went to gym then played two hours of badminton.
I lost all my games! but I not a sour loser when it comes to badminton, my stomach wins !

MU wins, Pacman wins, Ferrari wins !
How was you weekend?
