Massa is F1 2008 World Champion

Consider this ;

Massa won 6 compared to Hamilton's 5 wins.
Ferrari won the constructors championship and won 8 races.

And everybody thinks Hamilton is the world champion and will have the number one car ?

Think !

Viva Ferrari !

Celtics and Pacman are no 1

After 22 years the Celtics have finally nailed it.

A lot of experts have said that the Lakers will win the series in these years final.
Most coaches in Manila predicted the Lakers will win because of Kobe and the Zen Master and the early series they had at the west. They were all wrong.

My friends were saying that the Celtics will loose. They were pointed out that despite having the best record in the regular season they had to go to a game 7 with the Hawks, who were the bottom seed at the play offs. They could not even finish Atlanta early, and then had another 7 series with Cleveland and a tough 6 game series with Detroit.
While at the west, LA were well rested did not find any opposition.

I predicted that the Celtics will win in 7 games, they won it on 6 with a 40 plus margin.
These hidden factors why Celtic’s are the new champs;
Danny Aige, this years Executive of the year that build the team.
Sam Cassel, despite his age still give a few sure points when needed, and the rest of the bench was deep despite lacking in All Star quality.
The East is the toughest conference in the NBA that made the Celtics more cohesive.
The long series they had with Atlanta, Cleveland and Detroit made the Celtics dangerous.
Based on the championship series you can see how Boston won their home games and win that decisive one game on the road from a record 24 points behind in game 4 .

I know they will loose Game 5 to take it home.
That was the plan anyway. Win one on the road and not loose at home.
And this time I was right.

And then there was Tiger.
Having not played for months after a knee injury, play par golf and win The US open in extra 19 holes is just unbelievable. Even the best script writers in Hollywood cant write that story. Grimacing on every drive and not hitting the fairways and still win is just pure Legend.

The Euro 08, as football in general is always un predictable.
Who would have thought that France and Portugal will go home so early ?
My last two teams are Netherlands and Italy, and they too are going home.
You can not even predict a game anymore.

I don’t like to predict but Spain will not win it.

Another Ferrari one two in France, wheres BMW? heheh Hamilton does not score and looks good for Ferrari.

Finally Manny Pacquio is now Yahoo!’s number one pound per pound boxer in the world. Cant wait for next weekends fight party at home. Diaz is going down and Hatton is next.

Hamilton is plain Stupid !

After hearing the Spanish national anthem for both Moto GP and the French Open last night, the last thing I want, is to hear it again at this morning 's Canadian grand prix. Maybe Alonso can win a an accident marred race. Y ah right.

Anyways, Nadal and Ivanovic were great. Though I am a Sharapova fan I am now mesmerized by Anna Ivanovic. RF could not even win a set last night thats why I think he is not best that ever played the game.

Back to Canada, Lewis Hamilton is just plain stupid in crashing his car behind Kimi on the pits with the red lights on. Remember how he lost his championship at the pit lane entry in last years Chinese GP ? Hamilton deserves a more severe punishment than a ten place penalty. You don't total a car behind a red light.

If this was a few years ago the results last night would have been a Suaber one two, Minardi & BAR scoring some points, Jaguar gets a podium. This is not BMW 1st win because they won countless races before with Williams F1 before. Peter Suaber & Petronas deserves credit for their maiden win.

Euro 08 is still in its early stages but the favorites have performed so far.

The Celtics lead the series at 2-0, and I think they on their way .

NBA, F1, Euro weekend

NBA Game 1

The Celtics and Lakers game 1 at Boston was a trade of baskets for 2 and 3/4 quarters before the Paul Pierce had two consecutive 3 point shots at the end of the 3rd coming from an sprained knee.

The fourth quarter showed the single dimension game of LA where you give the ball to Kobe, and let him do the rest.

During the 4th, LA missed at least 7 easy shots, and Kobe dribbling the ball and taking the shot for most of their possessions. Why happened to coach Phil's "triangle offense"?
I saw some prediction from most PBA coaches from the Star and they say LA will win it.
No way ! Celtics will win this one.

Euro 08

The Euro 08 starts this weekend and for three weeks , I need to be awake from midnight to morning to catch the games, I will be supporting Netherlands, Italy and maybe Portugal. Like the "world cup" football tournaments are hard to predict.

F1

Another midnight race for the Canadian Grand prix this weekend. Its mid season and Ferrari should not make any mistakes or it would be hard to catch up the grid.

Its the Beer !

For the past two years , the Asian 9 ball tour have been dominated by Taiwan. Some say its not that Tiawan is dominating or the Philippines have been playing bad but its just Chang Jung-Lin is playing exceptionally. He has won all the legs this year.

Incidentally the tour have been sponsored by Guinness since last year. They have been promoting the tour extensively and have come out with a lot of gimmicks just to entice the Asian crowd to see the best in Asia play 9 ball.

Unfortunately the Philippines is not sending its best players to the tour, which receives a wide coverage by ESPN in Asia. The Philippines best players would rather play money games in Manila's pool hall's while sipping an ice cold San Miguel Beer. With the exception of World Champion Alex Pagulayan,r the rest of the RP Guinness team is made up of veterans that have been always there but have come up short of winning the best tournaments in the world. Making it consistently in quarter, semi or even a final does not make them the best pool player in the world. You have to win one.

Up coming talent Joven Bustamante is raw. Guinness even sent out a press release that he goes to church in very tournament and hates the Filipino expats around the world that crowd the tournaments because he is stressed with them since he can understand what they say that adds up to the pressure. I saw him play in the TV table last weekend at Genting Highlands and lost so bad. He needs to focus and play his game, TV table and OfW's and all. !

Since the best 9 ball pool players in the Philippines are supported by San Miguel Beer they are not allowed to play in the Guinness 9 ball tour. There was a time that Two people will welcome you at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Manila on two giant posters, President Arroyo and Efren Bata Reyes holding an ice cold San Miguel Beer.

Who drinks black beer anyway in this islands?

Its in the beer, SanMig Light please !

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now"

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship from the movie Mannequin was the number one the song , Tanduay won the Open conference in the PBA, Ronald Reagan was US president, The reigning Tour de France champion is Greg LeMond, Coventry City won the FA cup and a band named Guns and Roses were releasing their debut album. The was no cable and satellite TV, internet, wifi , broadband or cellphones. Nobody have heard of a guy named Michael Jordan.

The year was 1987.

This was the last time The Celtics and Lakers have meet for the NBA finals, a rivalry that started the decade.

How time flies by, its been 21 years .

Growing up near an American air base, we had special a UHF antenna so that we can get signals from US Arm forces TV. The best finals in the 80's live on TV during breakfast, no need to wait for the late night news. The games were broadcast after a week on local TV , after they get thier VCR copies from the States.

I still can name the Lakers ; Magic, Jabbar, Cooper, Scott, Worthy, Rambis and AC Green.
Yeah, I was Laker fan back them, they had more team work. Celtics were build around Bird.

How 21 years have passed so fast.

I have been waiting for NBA final match up for years.
But this time I'm going for the Celtics 4-3 on 7 games.

Guinness Asia 9 Ball Tour

This weekend, its the 3rd leg of the Asian 9 Ball Tour.
Since the tour was sponsored by Guinness last year , no Filipino has ever won a leg.
The 3rd leg will be held in Genting Highlands, TV schedule on Star Sports below;

Friday May 30 - 5 to 9:30pm
Saturday May 31 - 12 to 6pm ( quarter final)
Saunday June 1 - 12-4:30pm (semi and finals)

Since most Filipino cue artist are sponsored by San Miguel Beer, I wonder why they haven't won a leg since 2007? Is it beacuse of the Beer?

I love football, but I need space !

I still have that feeling in Moscow last week, the end of a long fruitful season for United.
But wait, I need to get up tonight for a friendly between US and England.
( note : Fabio Capello spoke English for the 1st in his press conference yesterday)

Will football have an off season?
The joy of winning a champions league just sinked and here we go again.
A few friendlies and Euro 08 starts next week.

The US big sports, where off season is a reality makes sense.

I love football, but I need space.

Celtics Lakers anyone?

Do we need a Malaysian Sports Center edition ?

The Malaysian edition of ESPN's Sports Center runs before the Asian edition at 7pm.
Both editions have similar content with the local one having a bit of local football and amateur sports. Personally I don't watch the Malaysian edition and would rather wait for the Asian one.

Why we really need a Malaysian version of sports center?

Why not a ten minute update on Malaysian sports and leave all the international sports news to the Asian edition?

Besides its not environmental friendly watching two shows with almost the same content
running consecutively. Thats 30 minutes of wasted electricity! And the English of the presenters are so bad they wont pass auditions for DJ's on an AM band in other countries !

Filipinos outplay title-holders Malaysia in SEABA opener

By AFTAR SINGH

KUALA LUMPUR: The Philippines sounded an early warning to their rivals when they outclassed defending champions Malaysia 98-67 in the SEABA boys’ junior basketball championship at the Maba Stadium here last night.

The Filipinos, who did not compete in the last meet in Segamat in 2006, trailed 43-47 in the first two quarters.

But the Philippines, who underwent a two-month training stint in the United States prior to the tournament, showed tremendous fighting spirit and maturity to hit back and take a comfortable 72-51 lead in the third quarter.

Cheered by the 100-odd crowd, the Philippines romped home in the fourth quarter for a 31-point win.

No way out: Ong Chun Khee (centre) trying to get past three Filipino players during the SEABA junior championship yesterday. The Philippines won 98-67. – By AZMAN GHANI/The Star

Ong Chun Khee was the top scorer for Malaysia with 23 points while Gabriel Banal contributed 16 points for the Philippines.

Apart from the defeat, there was further bad news for Malaysia when Kuek Tian Yuan was carried out of the court with a hamstring injury midway through the third quarter.

National coach Tan Kok Heng blamed his boys’ lack of focus in the third quarter for the defeat.

“I don’t know why my boys lost focus in the third quarter ... it affected our game. They also looked exhausted. Two of my players also suffered muscle pulls during the match,” said Kok Heng.

Malaysia will face Singapore today.

In an earlier match at the same venue, Thailand hammered Indonesia 82-50.

Five teams, including Singapore, are competing in the tournament and the top two will qualify for the Asian qualifying tournament in Iran in September.

RESULTS

Thailand 82 Indonesia 50.

Malaysia 67 Philippines 98.

Singapore vs Malaysia – 8.45pm.

A Midnight in Moscow

Well call it a dawn in Asia, the Champions league final in Moscow on March 21 will be an early morning match here in Asia.

It boils down to the two premiership contenders, Chelsea vs Man United.

I was hoping for Liverpool to push to the finals because I don't want Chelsea who are build by using an endless cash flow. A team made by money to buy silverware.

Too bad the special one will watching this on TV.

Were on our way to Moscow

Yeah after years if waking up early in the morning to support MAN UTD in their quest for the champions league, the dream has finally come!

United need only to win their last three games to keep the premiership and win the 3rd European cup.

Moscow, May 21 !!

Believe !

Crucial weeks for MU

After watching Manchester United lost to Chelsea for a late penalty I was down in shock.
Suddenly there was this new NIKE add showing Cristiano Ronaldo practicing his free kicks, then Kobe Bryant shooting, then Maria Sharapova, then Roger Federer, then Liu Xiang and then Manny Pacquiao.

Wow ! Manny has reached this stage. But it left me wondering why Nike Athlete Tiger Woods was not in the add?

Anyways back to United they still lead the premiership by a superior goal difference, will they blink? The champions league clash this week with Barca will decide the season. Will they win the premiership and the champions league? or will United fans sulk with no silver wear this season?

The next few weeks will be crucial.

Spanish GP vs Sepang

You can see the big difference in Formula One fans during the Spanish grand prix compared say to Bahrain or Sepang.

Barcelona was packed during the qualifying, grand stands and hills side included.Compared that to Sepang during qualifying where a few souls were at the hillside and some lucky company sponsored people at the main grand stand. The fans at Barcelona maybe 90% Fernando Alonso fans but are pure F1 fans. They came with flags, shirts, and caps. You can hear the whole circuit in unison when Fernando took provisional pole before being passed by Kimi by less than 0.01 sec. But yes, Alonso was low on fuel that have him blinked first during the race.

Race day, 132,000 pure Formula 1 fans showed up at Catalunya. During my last race in Sepang race day was a bit packed. The race was attended by thousands of students who came by school bus. I asked one student why did they attend the race and he told me its part of their project at his schools robotics club. He paid RM 65 for the event which included transport by bus to and from the circuit. That was way too cheap to watch a race. During the race most of the students spent their time in shaded parts of the hill and did not have any interest in watching the race in full. Next the day Sepang announced that they broke the race attendance this year, 125,000 attended the race.

Get my point ?

Back in Spain, it was another pole to podium finish.

Full Sepang Grand Prix Report

This is my 8th time I will be watching the Malaysian grand prix at Sepang, but I was still as excited as the first time. This year it was held just after a week's race in Australia. So there was no post GP break that usually cools down your emotion for two weeks.

Ticket Disaster

My running around town for tickets was a disaster started by calling the Sepang GP hot line.
I called them inquiring where can I get tickets in the Petaling Jaya area and they told me I can go to Axcess Tickets at 1 Utama. I went there after work and to my dismay Axcees Tickets don't sell any MGP tickets anymore. So I called the hot line again and told them why did they direct me to an outlet that does not sell tickets anymore. Then they advised me to buy at Jusco Sunway Pyramid and I drove to the opposite side of PJ in bad traffic and strong rain. Again at Jusco, they also stopped selling MGP tickets. I again called the hot line with misinformed customer service people and after a shouting match with them, they asked to check at Parksons Sunway.

Finally they have tickets but with a hitch. They don't sell 3 day parking pass at the location of my purchased tickets. They were only selling parking pass about 5 kilometers away from my circuit seat. So the next day I went all the way to KL Sentral to buy the parking pass.

The customer service people at Sepang are not properly trained. A hot line is created to save customers time and money. The Sepang CS were merely looking at the SIC website and they do not have access to a system which tells them where outlets have sold out etc.

This was not my 1st GP, I usually buy my tickets at KL Sentral where everything can be arranged, even for transport to the circuit itself.I thought I will save some time and buy the tickets nearby.

Food

The 1st time a watched the Malaysian GP, I followed the rules and did not bring any drinks and food since it was prohibited in the circuit. I as I lined for 30 minutes for lunch, I was shocked that the food was finished. We ended up drinking Coke and beer till 7PM. So for the next grand prix's I stock up my cooler with drinks and food.

This year the food quality has deteriorated. Everything you bought was five Ringit. A Coke , a 250 ml water, Chips, a pack of noodles was RM 5. This is just to much specially for the bus loads of public school studetns who watched the race ( this makes up the bulk of spectators every year and helped break the 125,000 record attendance this year). A Coke will cost less in a five star hotel lobby cafe, it will only cost you RM.90 cents at Tesco.

Saturday Qualifying

The drive to Sepang was a breeze. There was a thunderstorm in PJ and I was thinking this will be my first qualifying in rain. Despite many returns to Sepang I missed my parking exit which meant a few kilometers drive down the road. As I parked and opened the door I could hear the first cars out. There is nothing like hearing F1 cars live ! bar none ! I think fans who come to the circuit and use earplugs at the race are crazy, why don't they just go home watch it on TV. As usual qualifying crowd's are lean. The weather was outcast but dry.

Ferrari one two

Sunday Race Day

Traffic started building up after the Mosque during race day, from here it took us about one hour to my designated parking. This is a three lane highway and will take five minutes to drive during normal days. However fun starts during this stage because you can see fans in their team outfits and flags and the friendly jeering starts ! We missed the drivers parade despite heeding to circuit early.

The temperature was more than 40 degress C , it was another hot race, a signature they have adopted to the Malaysian GP, ("world's hottest race")

At 2:25 PM the Safety car came out, this car have more fans than the Super Aguri.
Everybody wants a photo of the Safety car. !

F1 being a precision sports, does not wait for VIP's and stuff. It promptly started at 2:30 with the pit lane open. This is the time all the cars make reconnaissance laps, head back to the pits and to the starting grid. If you watch this on TV, this are your 1st glimpse of the car's while the commentators are discussing some stuff brought to you by Petronas or Johny Walker.
For fifteen minutes, its a pure rush.

Race starts at 3:00 PM local time (Almost all F1 races stars at 3pm). It was a good start with all the cars packed till turn six. Massa P1 and Kimi less than a second behind. It was a formation race till the pits stops, or was it? after watching the replay on Star Sports there were lots of drama at the 1st corner, at turn five and Hamilton having some pit stop problems.
During mid part of the race, I went to get a five Ringit Coke and was surprised to see Massa was not trailing Kimi. Where was he ? Pits? I took a walk further my position and saw the 2nd Ferrari in the gravel. I knew it , how many times did to see Massa do such thinngs? Last 2004 at Sepang, Massa went to grass just in front of me in a Sauber.

After 56 grueling laps under a hot sun , Kimi wins it, a good sign for the year.

See you in Singapore !

Early days for Ferrari, the sun set's for MU

Early days for Ferrari. A good result in Bahrain, the 1st Ferrari one two for the season. Kimi leads and the team is a point behind in the constructors. A good sign but its still early. Hamilton was cursed from practice to the 1st lap or was he is finally committing mistakes?

My full report and photos on the Sepang GP in a few days,
I'm still recovering from my sunburns.

With a few games left in the premiership, MU all of sudden blink last night to draw.

Easter Break

JM Marquez you are a great fighter! MP had a strong fight with you,
stop sour graping ! you lost period . See you after Diaz at 135 lbs.

I will take my Easter break starting today till the 30th.

Sepang this weekend , the top 4 EPL derby... wow what a weekend.

Ferrari will have new car's and will take some points for sure, to early Lewis!

My predictions' are: 1 -2 Ferrari, MU win , Gunners loose to Chelsea.

Hirit ka ?

Unfinished business is OVER !

The run down to the fight was exciting, and the wait was to much to bear.

Did MP win it? for me, both of them won 6 rounds each, but JMM had a knockdown at round 3.
Marquez won 6 ten pointers and 5 nine pointers and round 3 was an 8 = 113
Pacman won 6 ten pointers and 6 nine pointers = 114
JMM statistically had more accurate punches, but MP was opening up because that's how he fights, he takes some and give you a fast big one.

It was close, but MP won it and he should have won the 1st time they meet last 2005.

No more rematch ! Let's go Diaz at 135 !

Juan Manuel Marquez is good fighter that why his fights with MP are so close.
Both boxers beat Barrera and Morales thats why both of them are the best at 130.
But somebody showed who is the best even at razor thin results at 24 rounds, its MP.

Box, Race and Goals !

What a shocking defeat for MU at last weekend's FA cup quarter finals .
No League and FA cups for this season, only the premiership & champions league left.
This is bad,I feel bad.

Moto GP Photo courtesy of photographs.kyubs.com visit the site for more F1, Japan GT and other motor sports photos taken at Sepang.

The other notable sports event last weekend was the 1st Moto GP night race in Qatar.
I watched the race Monday at 4 in the morning. I hope the European fans enjoyed the time change. Me, I have to drag my self to work and having to accept another Rossi loss, despite changing his tires to Bridgestone.

I'm looking forward for the next two weeks, a handful of important fixtures and events.

I'm all hyped up !

Australian Grand Prix F1 Qualifying

Sun March 15

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez

I'm a Pacman fan and every time he fights, it gives me goose bumps.
From the preliminaries to the pre fight ceremonies to Michael Buffer and to the three national anthems. Manny Pacquiao has changed boxing, combined it with a WWE atmosphere but with a genuine passion of a world cup. Its Mexico vs Philippines in Las Vegas.

Australian Grand Prix F1 Race Day

March 22 and 23

Malaysian Grand Prix
Yup I have tickets for the whole weekend. See you in Sepang !

The weekend will be capped by a pair of games between the top four in the premiership.

March Madness

Photo from www.hbo.com

A sorry loss for the Hotdogs last Friday. I think the PBA All Filipino conference could have been won by Purefoods if James Yap was not suspended by a novice commissioner. Converting a flagrant foul 1 to 2 and giving a one game suspension. A few days later the NBA copied that decision and suspended Dirk Nowitzki.

Taipei dominated again the G 9 ball Asian tour last weekend. So far they have dominated the event since G sponsored the tour. Now I know why Pinoys haven't won a leg, because the tour is not sponsored by SMB. Think !

United are a point away from re gaining the premiership table and are in the quarter finals of the champions league.

The F1 season is a few days away and I'm excited ! I will be in Sepang for the second grand prix.
I have also booked the Pacman vs Marquez fight on the 16th, any Pacman fight keeps my blood pressure rising days before. Imagine your excitement at a F1 race, when 5 red lights are up and then its a go times 10,000.

I started with basketball will end with it. March means madness, The NCAA tournament is up and I am fan of this type of ball since I was in grade school ( thanks to USAF far east network). The works, 64 teams, sweet sixteen and the final four, pure basic Basketball at its best.

Unfinished Business

My cable operator called me already today.
She was reminding me that there is a boxing event for march and would I be interested.

Is she nuts ?

Sure I’m booking the fight!

Go Manny!

Tender Juicy anyone ?

My support for PureFoods in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has a long history.
From Crispa then Tanduay until they were eventually bought by PureFoods in the late 80's.

They were the franchise back then. Despite being a relatively a new team they were winning championships early. Being away from Manila, were Lonely Planted describes that Basketball is the main religion, I miss this long championship games. I remember one time that most public transport would stop when the Hotdogs were playing against the worlds best selling gin, Ginebra.

I may be away, but I'm hoping that Purefoods will win the remaining games and win against Realtors. There will be a game 7 on Friday !

Garlic rice, sunny side up, ketchup and a few Tender Juicy, yummy !

Will MU win it ?

I watched most of the starting quarters of last weekend's premier league games and predicted the out come and switched the tv to the movies. I was all wrong.

Last Saturday's fixture between Arsenal and Birmingham was crucial for United's title chase.
Arsenal could have taken 3 points and lead MU by as mush as 9 points on the table. After leading 1-nil to an 11 man Birmingham , Arsenal drew it... wheeew..

Ok, I did not watched the United derby because of the late kick off. I woke up the at 11am Sunday morning for catch ESPN's Football Extra ( yeah Jamie Yeo is hot) to wait for the news.
Manchester 5 Newcastle 1
I have a friend who thought that Santiago Munez was real and plays for Newcastle.
The "Toons" needs Munez back, why did they traded him. hahaha

Its Monday and the table looks like this; MU 61 Arsenal 64.

I am always happy when Chelsea losses. They lost big time last night. This was a game I thought was over when Drogba made a free kick and I turned off the tv to sleep.
I was driving to work today and was listening to news that The Spurs won it !
A multi million club loosing to a team that were at the bottom halve of the table.

Arsenal drew, Chelsea losses, and MU wins by 5 goals !

Red Devils oust Gunners !

The Red Devils, after not wining the last two games showed no mercy to the gunners last Saturday.I was a bit worried about United playing Arsenal after a slump.
I knew United will have a hard time with that FA cup fixture, and at 1:10 am kick off It was worth a watch. It was MU 3 - 0 at half time, can you believe that. Four nil at 90 and the Gunners are out of the oldest cup in football history.

Last time they meet in 2005 for the FA cup final, I watched it at a packed Mon't Kiara courtyard. It was nil nil at 90 minutes, nil nil at 120 minutes, and the Gunners won it on penalty. It was an emotional loss since the MU were rebuilding that time, I left after Arsenal made their final kick.It took me 45 minutes to get out of Mont Kiara, imagine hundred of cars with one exit.

Play Hard

The last ten days were hectic, fun and a string of loses by my teams.

After MU was held to a draw by the Spurs last Feb 2 ( a very late MU goal), MU lost last night at home to City. Two straight games with out a win. Did the trip to Saudi Arabia cost them ?
Last night's derby with City was supposed to be a dedicated win to the great MU team that perished in a plane crash 50 years ago.
***
England's win over Switzerland was a good indication of how Cappello will manage the team.
He's new rules include the team eating together, banning fizzy drinks, asking them to wear ties and banning track suites and play stations , and the WAGS !
***
Feb 2 I went trekking as usual for about three hours and played badminton later in the evening.

Feb 4 I woke up early to watch the Super Bowl.

Feb 5 I played a good two hours of basketball with friends.

Feb 6 I went to Sepang to watch the Moto GP testing. Valentino Rossi was testing his new bike and Bridgestone tires. With the new set up I think the doctor shall regain the championship.

Feb 7 - 9 I drove up to Cherating, the east coast of Malaysia for some fun in the beach and friends. I will not forget the beaches over there. The wind was good and the surf was high. It was one of the best spots to sleep, eat, drink then sleep again.

Patriots lost the Super Bowl

So the Giants fans are calling its the greatest comeback or a Hollywood finish.

The Patriots, winning all their games this season except the most important one, the Super Bowl.

After leading 7-3 at the start of the fourth, they gave away two touchdowns in the last quarter.

Blame it to the defense of the Patriots, they thought they have it just a few minutes away.

Defense is the best Offense.

I feel bad when I loose, this was bad.

Go Patriots

Tennis

Finally Maria have won the Australian Open.
Having won Wimbledon and the US open, only the clay has eluded her, maybe this year.
For Ana, her time will come. I was absolutely unbiased during last Saturdays final.
Both beauty, squeaker and screamer.
It was the most interesting grand slam final I have ever watched.

Super Bowl XLII

When I was in high school back in the 80's, I would get sick on a Monday late January or early February. My parents never knew it, but I'll spend the morning watching the Super Bowl .
This is a habit I still do, and next Monday I'll call the office and tell them I'm sick .

Go Patriots !

Pinays win World cup of Golf

I was watching the Golf channel last Sunday and was happy to see the Philippines win the Womens World cup of Golf in Sun City. Jennifer Rosales made putt after putt at the back nine despite the terrible conditions due to the storms and rains that hit the course.

Manchester United two late goals against Reading last Saturday gives them some breathing space for the premiership. It could have been more goals but thats football.

Finally as I have been ranting about last year, Valentino Rossi will race this seasons in Bridgestone tires and I hope he will regain his title after suffering with the Michelins. Incidentally his other Yamaha teammate will race in Michelin.

Fromula One on a Shoestring

Most F1 fans would agree that smelling the rubber and hearing the deafening sound of an Formula One car is the ultimate experience. Watching the race live, you have to fully understand the sport because you don't have the convenience of graphical data and multi shot frames from the television. However watching it on the circuit is the ultimate experience.

Being the most expensive sport event in the world, it is not cheap to watch it live.
The average cheapest ticket to watch a race is 53 Uk punds, or
70 euro, $ 104 USD, 4,240 Php or RM 341 Malaysian Ringit.

Most of these ticket prices are for one day only and majority of them are for Friday practice session only. Average ticket prices would cost more for Saturday qualifying and
Sunday Race day.

So where do you watch an F1 race on a Shoestring ?

Answer : Malaysia

Consider this:

The Cheapest Three day pass is just 15.55 UK pounds, or
20.80 euro, $30 USD, 1,250 Php or RM 100 Malasyian Ringit.

Yes that is a Three day pass which includes Friday Practice, Saturday Qualifying and
Sunday Race day.

The cheapest way to travel from Kuala Lumpur is by KTM train from KL Sentral to NILAI
and take the shuttle bus to the curcuit.
A Return package is about RM 15 or about 3 euro per day.

You will need about ten euro for food & refreshments at the circuit per day.

During the Grand Prix week, there are a lot of F1 activities in the city like;
F1 car displays were you can take look at the different F1 cars up close and take photos,
Pit Stop contest, Driver appearances etc.

Hotel prices in KL during the week are about 50% higher but most five star hotels in the city are below $100 USD per night.

Air travel around South East Asia are also cheap with the emergence of budget airlines.
From Europe flights to Kuala Lumpur are also the lowest you can find.

The Formula week end is a great excuse to visit Malaysia and the catch the hottest race in the world !

Note:
The 2008 Petronas Malaysian Grand prix will be held on March 21- to 23 2008 at the Sepang International F1 Circuit.
